Portside, a leading provider of advanced software solutions for the global aviation industry, has announced a significant investment in artificial intelligence (AI) and next-generation aviation technology. This move comes as part of the company's broader growth strategy, which aims to simplify and improve aviation operations through the integration of AI and automation.

The expansion of Portside’s leadership team has facilitated the launch of several new initiatives. These initiatives are designed to give aviation teams practical, reliable tools that eliminate friction from daily workflows, sharpen decision-making, and deliver measurable value. According to David Kim, Chief Product Officer of Portside, the focus is on practical applications of AI that provide time back for critical work.

One of the key AI capabilities being rolled out is the Automated Safety Classification, which is now generally available. This tool categorizes safety reports using an organization's own data, delivering faster and more consistent risk analysis while eliminating the need for manual tagging. Another significant feature is the Instant Operational Knowledge, which uses AI-enabled manuals to help flight crews find critical procedures quickly. This, in turn, eases the burden on back-office teams, making it easier for them to update, collaborate on, and maintain compliant documentation.

Portside is also introducing Flexible Scheduling Assistance, currently in beta, which allows teams to quote trips and schedule crews with a simple voice or text command. This tool automatically pulls client preferences, making the process more efficient on both desktop and mobile devices. Additionally, the company is developing Advanced Quoting & Revenue Intelligence, also in beta, which helps sales teams qualify leads and build accurate quotes in seconds. This tool draws on live schedule data, historical pricing trends, market signals, and operational risk to provide real-time insights.

The Connected Agent Ecosystem, set to be released in beta in the fourth quarter, leverages the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enable preferred AI assistants to operate directly within Portside. This feature allows for seamless interaction, answering questions and executing tasks without the need to switch between screens.

Portside’s commitment to operational stability and a clear advantage for its customers is evident in its approach to the transition to next-generation technology. The company is focusing its full investment on its four core scheduling solutions: Avianis, BART, Horizon, and Takeflite. This strategy ensures that FOS and PFM customers can transition to next-generation technology on their own timeline, with full support from Portside. Account teams will work with every operator to match them with the right solution for their business and oversee a smooth migration prior to the retirement of FOS and PFM.

To showcase its latest products and AI capabilities, Portside will be present at the 2026 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition in Las Vegas, October 20-22, at Booth 845. Attendees are invited to meet with the Portside team, see the company's latest innovations, and discuss how Portside's continued investment can support their operations today and into the future.

Portside, with more than 235 professionals across 40+ countries, serves over 1,200 enterprise customers worldwide. The company is dedicated to providing advanced software solutions that support business and corporate aviation, government operators, commercial airlines, and aircraft leasing and finance organizations.
