Portage Mutual Insurance, a 100% Canadian-owned mutual property and casualty insurer based in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, has adopted Kimputing’s CenterTest for test automation. This move comes as the company prepares for its migration to Guidewire Cloud, a significant step in its digital transformation.
According to Eric Thorsteinson, Chief Technology Officer of Portage Mutual Insurance, the adoption of CenterTest is integral to the company’s quality transformation strategy.
The new test automation solution will cover a broad range of applications, including PolicyCenter, BillingCenter, ClaimCenter, and ProducerEngage. This comprehensive coverage will replace manual regression testing, ensuring that every release is validated in a way that mirrors user experience. The adoption of CenterTest will also provide Portage Mutual with a shared, maintainable library of test assets, fostering a modern quality engineering practice.
Kimputing, an Austin, Texas-based software company specializing in test automation for Guidewire InsuranceSuite, is leading the project. Kim Filiatrault, President & CEO of Kimputing, emphasized the strategic nature of the adoption.
The implementation of CenterTest will ensure that Portage Mutual is Day-One Guidewire Cloud ready. The solution’s ability to maintain version compatibility across Guidewire releases will enable the company to carry forward its automated tests without rework, de-risking the migration process. Additionally, CenterTest’s deterministic, data-driven architecture will scale coverage across lines of business and applications, while Kimputing’s AI-driven enhancements will accelerate test development, delivery, and maintenance.
Exavalu, Kimputing’s strategic delivery partner, is supporting the project with embedded SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) resources. MutualCore, Kimputing’s strategic consulting partner for the Canadian market, is providing oversight of the engagement. MutualCore’s expertise in guiding insurers through modernization efforts will ensure that Portage Mutual’s quality transformation is executed effectively.
Founded in 1884, Portage Mutual Insurance has a long-standing commitment to serving the insurance needs of Canadians. The adoption of CenterTest is part of the company’s broader strategy to leverage technology to enhance its operations and provide better service to its customers and broker partners.
