WASHINGTON, DC, UNITED STATES, October 8, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Progressive National Baptist Convention, Inc. (PNBC) is reviving the spirit of civil rights activism by launching a nonpartisan voter education tour, The People's Revival, across the Carolinas, Georgia, and Texas. This campaign, which began on October 16 in Columbia, South Carolina, aims to educate and mobilize voters, drawing inspiration from the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The tour, which runs through October 30, will visit seven cities in four states, focusing on early voting. In South Carolina, the first stop is Columbia, where a teach-in at Benedict College and a revival service at First Nazareth Baptist Church will kick off the campaign. The tour then moves to North Charleston, where a prayer breakfast and teach-in will take place on October 17.

In North Carolina, the campaign will hold teach-ins and revival services at St. Paul Baptist Church in Charlotte and First Calvary Baptist Church in Durham. The tour will then travel to Atlanta, where it will return to the Heritage Sanctuary of Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, the very place where Dr. King once preached. The final stops will be in Dallas and Houston, where a teach-in and community phone-banking dinner will be held at the John Lewis Social Justice Academy, followed by a revival service at Friendship-West Baptist Church. The tour will conclude in Houston with a teach-in at Texas Southern University and a revival service at Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church.

The People's Revival is not just a campaign but a movement, according to Rev. Dr. Keith W. Byrd Sr., President of PNBC.

To support the campaign, PNBC encourages congregations to participate in Blessed Ballot Sundays (October 4, 11, 18, and 25) by writing postcards to infrequent voters during worship and lifting them as an offering. Movement Mondays (October 5, 12, 19, and 26) will feature virtual phone and text banks with training included. Souls to the Polls will bring congregations to vote early together, and Election Eve Prophetic Action will gather the Convention online on November 2.

Goals for the campaign include 20,000+ postcards and 5,000+ calls and texts. Rev. Dr. Willie D. Francois III, chair of PNBC's Social Justice Commission, leads the campaign.

Founded in 1961 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the PNBC has a long history of civil rights activism. With more than 2.5 million members, including 1.5 million in the United States, the organization is headquartered in Washington, D.C.
