Planet Fitness has inspired approximately 3.7 million teens to prioritize fitness this summer through its High School Summer Pass program, according to the company. The program, which ran from June 1 to August 31, saw participants log over 19.4 million workouts, a 2% increase from the previous year. This participation underscores the growing commitment among teens to maintain a healthy routine during their summer break.

Since launching the program in 2019, Planet Fitness has invested more than $620 million in waived membership dues to promote youth health and wellness. The company's CEO, Colleen Keating, emphasized the importance of accessible fitness in supporting the next generation's well-being.

The program served as an entry point for many teens, with nearly 58% of participants reporting that this summer was their first time working out in any fitness club. Beyond physical strength, participants experienced significant emotional benefits. Nearly all surveyed teens (93%) reported an immediate mood improvement after working out, while 84% saw noticeable improvements in overall mental health and 83% reported elevated self-confidence.

For many teens, the program was a social experience. More than half of surveyed participants (53%) regularly worked out with a friend, 20% with a sibling, and 15% with a group of friends. The program also strengthened family connections, with 42% of parents working out alongside their teens and two-thirds (67%) of parents reporting that their teen's participation inspired other family members to get active.

Colleen Keating highlighted the program's impact on building long-term habits.

Planet Fitness has over 21.5 million members and 2,930 clubs across the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, Panama, Mexico, Australia, and Spain. The company's mission is to enhance people's lives by providing a high-quality fitness experience in a welcoming, non-intimidating environment, which it calls the Judgement Free Zone.
