WASHINGTON, Oct. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA) has launched a campaign to raise awareness about pulmonary hypertension (PH) during November, focusing on the daily challenges faced by those living with the condition. The "Living Under Pressure" campaign aims to highlight the medical realities of PH and the everyday pressures that come with managing the disease.

PH is a rare, chronic, and life-threatening lung condition characterized by high blood pressure in the lungs, which can lead to right heart failure or death. The PHA notes that PH can affect people of any age, sex, race, or socioeconomic background, contributing to more than 18,000 adult deaths annually in the United States. While some forms of PH have no known cause, others are linked to conditions such as left heart disease, congenital heart disease, sleep apnea, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or connective tissue disease.

The PHA's campaign extends beyond the medical aspects of PH, delving into the personal and practical challenges faced by those living with the condition. Throughout the month, the organization will share stories and resources about the pressures of managing symptoms and treatment, navigating healthcare and insurance, balancing work and family responsibilities, and other aspects of daily life. The campaign also celebrates the resilience and adaptability of people with PH, highlighting how they find support, advocate for themselves, and continue pursuing their goals.

The PHA's outreach efforts during Pulmonary Hypertension Awareness Month include social media, advocacy, education, and fundraising initiatives. The webinar will focus on the Supplemental Oxygen Access Reform Act, the Safe Step Act, and ways people affected by PH can share their experiences with lawmakers.

On November 11, PHA will observe CTEPH Awareness Day, providing educational resources about chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), a rare type of PH caused by blood clots that restrict blood flow in the lungs.

The PHA will also host two in-person fundraising events: the 2026 Phoenix O2breathe Walk on November 1, and the 2026 North Texas Zebra PHestO2breathe Walk on November 14.
