The book, released on October 12, 2026, during ADHD Awareness Month, offers guidance for adults diagnosed with ADHD later in life and those who support them.

McKenna, who has more than 35 years of experience helping clients understand their minds, received a diagnosis of ADHD at the age of 62. This personal experience, combined with her clinical expertise, forms the basis of her new work.

The book is designed to be accessible and practical, combining personal stories, exercises, and strategies for organization, emotional regulation, overthinking, follow-through, and the shame that often accompanies years of feeling misunderstood. At its core, McKenna's "ADHD Wellness Shield Trademark" provides a seven-part framework covering nutrition, sleep, movement, support systems, external brain systems, mindfulness and hypnosis, and purpose and strengths. Readers also learn the 4 Rs (Recognize, Release, Replace, Repeat) and Compassionate Detachment Trademark, and receive six original self-hypnosis scripts for use at home.

"Unleash Your ADHD Warrior" has received positive reviews. Self-Publishing Review gave the book 4 1/2 stars, calling it "an empowering guide" that is "well-organized and easy to digest."

The book is available in paperback for $18.99 and as an e-book for $9.99 on Amazon and through IngramSpark trade and library distribution. ISBN 978-1736569726. McKenna has also created a companion website, Deb McKenna, where readers can find additional resources and support.

In addition to her new book, McKenna is the author of "The Cluttered Mind" and the creator of the ADHD Wellness Shield Trademark. She works with clients in person and online, focusing on ADHD coaching, hypnosis, and education. A portion of the book's proceeds supports three causes she has chosen for personal reasons as a Desert Storm veteran living with multiple sclerosis: CHADD, Give an Hour (which serves veterans and military families), and the National MS Society.

In a related development, the Nix Academy, an up-and-coming dance and performing arts school, is highlighting the powerful impact of dance on managing ADHD symptoms. Founded by Nicky Rowe, who herself has ADHD, the academy has become a beacon of inclusivity, with around 40% of its students identifying as neurodiverse.

These developments reflect the growing recognition of ADHD in adults and the diverse approaches to managing the condition.
