PDQ Electric Releases Guide on NV Energy's Residential Managed Charging Program

PDQ Electric, a licensed electrical contractor serving the Las Vegas Valley, has released a homeowner guide explaining NV Energy's Residential Managed Charging incentives and the specific EV chargers that qualify under the program's updated equipment list.

On September 3, 2026, PDQ Electric published the guide to help homeowners navigate the complexities of the program, which pays single-family homeowners a one-time enrollment incentive of $100 per Level 2 charging port or $500 for income-qualified customers. Participants also receive a $150 annual bill credit for participating in at least 75 percent of the utility's managed charging events. The commitment period for the program is a minimum of 36 months.

According to NV Energy's Residential Managed Charging page, eligibility for the program depends significantly on the equipment selected. The Qualified Equipment List, which has undergone its fifth revision in May 2026, currently includes specific models from four brands: Wallbox, Siemens, ChargePoint, and Tesla. For Siemens and ChargePoint, qualification is tied to exact part numbers, not entire product lines. The manufacturer of a previously qualified brand, EVOCharge, has permanently closed, and NV Energy is honoring applications submitted on or before October 6, 2025.

Tesla owners face a unique situation. While a Generation 3 or newer Tesla Wall Connector qualifies, the charger's platform does not support third-party managed charging. As a result, NV Energy cannot reduce the unit's power during an event; instead, charging pauses entirely until the event ends. This distinction may be particularly relevant for drivers who charge during peak afternoon hours.

Shane Hayes, CEO of PDQ Electric, emphasized the importance of making the right equipment decision before installation. "The biggest mistake homeowners make is buying a charger first and asking about the incentive second," Hayes said. "Only a handful of models qualify, the list keeps changing, and the differences between chargers affect what happens every time NV Energy calls an event. Getting the equipment decision right before installation is worth several hundred dollars."

The guide from PDQ Electric also details other eligibility criteria, including the need for an active NV Energy account in the resident's name, a dedicated garage, carport, or driveway metered with the residence, proof of EV ownership, and written permission from the property owner for renters. It notes that the current program is an enrollment incentive rather than a rebate on installation costs, a structure that differs from earlier NV Energy offerings still described on some older websites.
