CLEARWATER, Fla., Nov. 3, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- PCDJ, a leading provider of DJ, video mixing, and karaoke software, has released DEX 4.1, a major update to its popular software suite for Windows and Mac. This version introduces several advanced features aimed at enhancing the performance workflow for DJs and karaoke hosts.
At the heart of DEX 4.1 is an AI-powered beat mapping engine that can detect tempo, beats, and downbeats, offering a more precise beat grid alignment. This feature, along with improved quantization, helps DJs cue and loop tracks more accurately, ensuring smoother transitions during performances. The new AI analysis engine also provides more detailed information about the music, such as energy ratings and mood labels, which can be crucial for building sets that flow naturally.
Next Picks, a new track suggestion feature, considers key, tempo, energy, mood, and recent play history to recommend tracks that fit seamlessly into the current set. Each suggestion comes with an explanation, helping DJs make informed decisions. This feature is designed to alleviate some of the preparation work, allowing DJs to focus more on the performance itself.
The update also includes higher-quality AIUnmixEQ stems, which separate vocals and instruments more cleanly, and stem-based effects that offer more precise control over the audio elements. Additionally, DEX 4.1 introduces a new playback engine that improves time-stretching and key-shifting, providing a better listening experience while reducing CPU demands.
For karaoke enthusiasts, DEX 4.1 offers enhanced support for guide vocals and lyrics display, making it easier to perform with a live audience. The software now reads timed LRC lyrics and supports online lookup, aligning unsynced lyrics to the vocals using AI. The karaoke mode can also use stem-based vocal removal with key lock, ensuring that the vocals are quieter during performances.
Other notable improvements include support for DVS and motorized platter devices, which provide more hands-on mixing and scratching options. The software also features a new playback engine that enhances key-locked sound, bass handling, and transients, while reducing CPU usage.
PCDJ has stated that DEX 4.1 is their biggest update to the DEX 4 series yet. The release notes detail 14 new and improved features, including improved musical-key detection, song structure and automatic cues, and backup and recovery tools. These enhancements are designed to make the software more user-friendly and powerful, catering to both novice and experienced performers.
The update is now available for Windows 10 and newer, as well as macOS 12 and newer. DJs and karaoke hosts can review the complete release notes and access the latest version through the official DEX 4.1 release announcement.
