Partners for Rural Impact has launched The Rural Portal, a free national platform designed to make trusted funding, data, training, and tools more accessible to rural practitioners. The initiative aims to address the challenges faced by rural educators, who often work with small teams and limited time to find resources that fit their unique contexts.
In rural communities, schools are central to place-based partnerships that support young people and families. However, rural educators are tasked with complex work, and finding the right resources can be a daunting challenge.
The Rural Portal was developed in response to this need, bringing together trusted resources in one place. The platform was built through a corporate partnership with Comcast Corporation, which provided the investment to make the resource available at no cost to rural leaders nationwide.
The Rural Portal connects users to a range of relevant resources, including public and private funding opportunities, data, training, and tools that strengthen local capabilities. A growing set of curated destinations includes StriveTogether’s Training Hub, Delivery Associates’ Community Funding Accelerator, and Rural Together, hosted by Education Design Lab. Additional destinations will be added over time to expand the platform's offerings.
The launch of The Rural Portal was announced at the National Forum to Advance Rural Education, where it was placed directly in front of the audience it was designed to serve.
More than 14 million young people are growing up in rural America, and Partners for Rural Impact is working to make it easier for the people closest to those young people to access the resources and relationships they need to help them thrive. The Rural Portal is part of a broader suite of resources from Partners for Rural Impact, including The Rural newsletter, the Rural Library Network, and the Rural Summit. Together, these resources help practitioners find credible information, learn from one another, and strengthen efforts already underway in their communities.
The launch of The Rural Portal marks a significant step in addressing the resource gap faced by rural practitioners. By centralizing trusted resources, the platform aims to empower rural educators and community leaders to make a greater impact in their regions.
