ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Parent Heart Watch, a national organization dedicated to protecting children and young adults from sudden cardiac arrest, has launched a new campaign called Crimson for Kids. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the risk of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) in young people and provide practical resources for prevention and emergency preparedness.

Every year, approximately 23,000 children under the age of 18 experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in the United States. Many of these children appear healthy, and warning signs may go unrecognized before SCA occurs. This makes the need for awareness and preparedness even more critical.

An estimated 1 in 300 youth has an undetected heart condition that puts them at risk for SCA. A standard history and physical can miss up to 90% of heart conditions that put young people at risk for SCA. These conditions can be particularly dangerous, as SCA is the number one killer of student athletes and a leading cause of death on school campuses.

Through the Crimson for Kids toolkit, Parent Heart Watch provides resources for parents, schools, youth sports organizations, healthcare professionals, businesses, community organizations, and media outlets. The toolkit addresses how to recognize warning signs and risk factors, the role of heart screening in early detection, the difference between sudden cardiac arrest and a heart attack, and how to prepare for a cardiac emergency with cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), and a Cardiac Emergency Response Plan.

The campaign also encourages people to display, wear, and share Crimson for Kids during October as a visible reminder of the young lives at risk. Crimson for Kids garden flags, apparel, social media resources, educational materials, and other tools help communities spark conversations and share lifesaving information.

The Crimson for Kids campaign is part of Parent Heart Watch’s broader mission to educate families and communities about the risks of sudden cardiac arrest in young people and provide the tools necessary to prevent and respond to emergencies. By raising awareness and promoting preparedness, the organization hopes to save lives and reduce the number of sudden cardiac arrests among children and young adults.
