NEW YORK CITY, NY, UNITED STATES, October 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Pádraig Cantillon-Murphy, a pioneer in Ireland's independent education movement, will speak on Wednesday, October 21, at 7:00 p.m. at Ernie O’Malley’s, located at 27th Street between Lexington and Third Avenues in New York City.

Irish education is currently in crisis, according to Cantillon-Murphy. Parents are seeking alternatives to the failing national schools, and Ireland's unique cultural identity is at risk of being lost. Standards in general are declining, and the need for reform is urgent.

Five years ago, Cantillon-Murphy launched a new model of education in Cork, independent of both church and state, with high standards and parent-run governance. Mater Dei Academy, Ireland’s only completely independent, parent-run secondary school, has graduated its first class with record-setting Leaving Cert results.

Cantillon-Murphy will share his journey and the future plans for this innovative approach to education. The Saints and Scholars Foundation, which is supporting this movement, will also be highlighted.
