BEDFORD, Mass., Oct. 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Oxipital AI has unveiled a new foreign material detection solution at Pack Expo, raising the bar for food safety inspection in the industry. The company’s latest technology, which operates on the OX and VX hardware platforms already in use by food manufacturers, promises up to 99% detection accuracy at line speed, with automated response and full audit logging.

The new capability, which joins quality inspection and vision-guided robotics as part of Oxipital AI's unified AI vision and intelligence platform, is designed to address the critical need for enhanced food safety measures. According to Mark Chiappetta, CEO of Oxipital AI, the company listened to customer feedback and developed a platform that can handle quality, robotics, and food safety without adding complexity.

The detection system is trained on the most common foreign materials responsible for food recalls and regulatory action, including hard and soft plastics, wood chips, full and partial personal protective equipment (PPE), cardboard, metal shards, and bone fragments. These materials are simulated across varied lighting conditions, product types, and line speeds to ensure the models are production-ready from the start.

Oxipital AI’s Foreign Material Detection system goes beyond simple alerts by integrating with existing line control systems to trigger automated responses based on the severity of the detected contaminant. A minor anomaly can slow the line, while a confirmed high-severity event will stop it entirely. This ensures that unnecessary stoppages are minimized, and the line can continue running when it should.

Every foreign material event is logged automatically in the V-CORTX analytics dashboard, providing a continuous, searchable record that supports food safety quality assurance (FSQA) documentation and root cause analysis. This detailed logging helps plant managers and corporate engineering teams identify where foreign materials are introduced, whether it is due to a worn line component, a supplier issue, or a changeover gap.

Oxipital AI’s technology is currently operating on production lines in the food industry, with the company showcasing its capabilities at Pack Expo at booth S-3192 from October 18th to the 21st. The company’s unified AI vision and intelligence platform, which includes quality inspection, foreign material detection, and vision-guided robotics, is designed to give producers one system to inspect, protect, and automate their lines.
