OVHcloud Upgrades to CNCF Platinum Membership

News related to:OVHcloud · 2 min read

The Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) announced that OVHcloud, one of Europe's largest independent cloud providers, has upgraded its membership to Platinum, deepening its commitment to the CNCF ecosystem and cloud native community. This move comes as organizations increasingly scale cloud native applications and production AI workloads, with a growing demand for vendor-neutral options and cloud sovereignty.

OVHcloud's upgrade to Platinum membership is a testament to its longstanding commitment to open infrastructure. Since 2012, the company has used OpenStack and joined the OpenStack Foundation in 2014. In 2020, OVHcloud engineers contributed an independently developed Kubernetes Operator to Harbor, a CNCF-graduated open source registry for container images and other OCI artifacts. This contribution aligns with OVHcloud's mission to develop open standards and preserve customer choice.

As a Platinum Member, OVHcloud will contribute more significantly to the CNCF community. The company operates thousands of production Kubernetes clusters on Cilium, scaling it for multi-tenant networking, observability, and security across 20 public cloud regions. This investment underscores OVHcloud's commitment to maintaining infrastructure flexibility across public, private, and hybrid environments, a critical operational priority as organizations scale their cloud native applications and production AI workloads.

The global cloud market is witnessing significant growth, with Gartner forecasting European sovereign cloud spending alone to reach $12.6 billion in 2026. This trend highlights the importance of vendor-neutral options and the need for open standards in the cloud computing landscape. OVHcloud's Platinum membership is a strategic move to stay ahead in this evolving market.

OVHcloud, a global cloud player and the European cloud leader, has served 1.7 million customers in more than 140 countries across four continents. With 46 datacentres worldwide, the company continues to innovate in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and next-generation infrastructure. Its unique integrated model enables it to deliver a sovereign, sustainable, high-performance, and transparent cloud, designed to meet critical requirements for availability, resilience, security, compliance, and cost control.

In March 2026, OVHcloud's AI Deploy and Managed Kubernetes Service were approved through CNCF's Kubernetes AI Conformance Program, which defines a shared, community-developed baseline for reliably running AI and machine learning workloads on Kubernetes. Today, OVHcloud's Managed Kubernetes Service runs thousands of production clusters across 20 public cloud regions on Kubernetes and Cilium, scaling Cilium for multi-tenant networking, observability, and security.

OVHcloud's upgrade to Platinum membership is a significant milestone in its journey to shape the open technologies and governance that give companies more choice and freedom to build. As the cloud computing landscape continues to evolve, OVHcloud remains committed to fostering an open and flexible ecosystem that supports the needs of its customers and the broader cloud native community.
