Ottawa Community Housing Acquires 503 Rental Homes

OTTAWA, Ontario, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Ottawa Community Housing (OCH) has completed the acquisition of 503 rental homes from Minto, protecting these homes as part of Ottawa’s long-term affordable housing supply and providing continued housing stability for hundreds of individuals and families. This transaction marks the largest acquisition in OCH’s history and ranks among the top non-profit affordable housing acquisitions in Canada. The homes, located in the South Centrepointe community of Nepean, include 73 townhouse blocks, for a total of 369 townhomes, and two apartment buildings.

Of the 503 homes, 491 have two or more bedrooms, ensuring a substantial source of family-sized rental housing in a well-connected neighborhood. The homes were built between the early 1970s and mid-1980s, providing a mix of housing options. Specifically, the mix includes 12 one-bedroom, 122 two-bedroom, 329 three-bedroom, and 40 four-bedroom homes.

This acquisition is part of OCH’s broader strategy to preserve affordable housing and strengthen Ottawa’s affordable housing supply. Since 2010, OCH has acquired 962 homes through strategic initiatives. These acquisitions complement OCH’s ongoing investments in new affordable housing development and community renewal. Under OCH's ownership, existing tenants will remain in their homes and continue to be part of the neighborhood, schools, services, and support networks they know. These homes will continue to provide an affordable housing option for current and future residents.

OCH will operate the newly acquired homes through ARRIV Properties, its affordable-rental offering for low- and moderate-income households. ARRIV is part of OCH’s range of housing options and provides rental homes at average or below-average market rents. OCH’s CEO, Stéphane Giguère, expressed pride in the acquisition, stating, "This landmark acquisition shows what is possible when Ottawa Community Housing, a non-profit housing provider, puts tenants first and acts at scale. With this addition, OCH’s portfolio now includes 1,465 homes, further solidifying its position as the second-largest community housing provider in Ontario. OCH continues to focus on both preserving existing affordable housing and creating new affordable homes across Ottawa. Since 2010, OCH has acquired 962 homes, bringing the total to 1,465.
