Osteosarcoma treatment landscape set to change with eight emerging therapies

GSK's Risvutatug rezetecan, an ADC targeting B7-H3, has received Breakthrough Therapy Designation from the U.S. FDA, highlighting its potential for treating late-line relapsed or refractory osteosarcoma.

Other therapies include Aminex Therapeutics' AMXT 1501 + DFMO, a combination of a polyamine uptake inhibitor and an off-patent inhibitor of polyamine synthesis, and Peel Therapeutics' PEEL-224, a polymer-based nanocarrier incorporating camptothecin, a naturally occurring compound.

Aparna Thakur, an oncology expert at DelveInsight, noted that these emerging therapies are expanding the future therapeutic landscape, creating opportunities for innovation. According to DelveInsight's estimates, the osteosarcoma market across the seven major markets is projected to grow at a CAGR of 9% during the forecast period through 2036, driven by the development of novel targeted therapies and increasing investment in osteosarcoma research.

The market, currently valued at approximately USD 60 million in 2025, is expected to reach USD 114 million by 2036, with OST-HER2 alone projected to contribute significantly to this growth. These advancements highlight the potential for more effective and targeted treatments in the future, offering hope to patients and their families.
