Oreterra Metals Corp. has completed its first drilling phase at the Trek South porphyry copper-gold prospect in British Columbia’s Golden Triangle. The company’s Phase 1 program, which included 13 holes for a total of 4,500 meters, has yielded encouraging results, including visible copper minerals and broad intercepts of porphyry-style alteration above a postulated intrusion.
The drilling program focused on two zones: the Trek South 'A' Zone and the Trek South 'Toe' Zone. In the 'A' Zone, central holes TS26-06, TS26-09, and TS26-10 each delivered multi-hundred-meter intercepts of strong to intense porphyry-style alteration. These alterations were accompanied by visually encouraging observations of copper minerals, including bornite, chalcopyrite, chalcocite, malachite, and chrysocolla. The presence of these minerals suggests a high-temperature magmatic source at depth.
The company also identified a new zone, Trek South 'C', characterized by abundant visible copper mineralization. This area, located on the east side of the Trek South glacier, is now designated as a new prospect for future drilling.
Kevin Keough, CEO of Oreterra Metals Corp., commented, "Trek South continues to be exceptionally encouraging as a new, large-scale porphyry prospect. The Phase 1 drill program has given us everything we expected to see, shy of the actual location of a source intrusion, though we now have a very good sense as to where it may be."
The drilling program also included two short holes on the Trek South 'Toe' Zone, believed to represent an Eskay Creek/VMS style of mineralization. These holes returned visually highly promising results, including multi-metre intersections of strong chalcopyrite mineralization.
Oreterra Metals Corp. is planning for a Phase 2 program in 2027, which will focus on drilling the newly identified zones, particularly the Trek South 'A' and 'C' Zones. The company will also continue to explore the Trek South 'B' Zone, identified in August 2025, which shows strong porphyry-style alteration often accompanied by visible copper mineralization.
The company’s quality assurance and quality control program, which includes alternating blanks, certified reference materials, and duplicates, ensures the accuracy of the drilling results. Oreterra Metals Corp. is focused on copper and gold exploration and holds several wholly-owned porphyry copper-gold prospects in British Columbia’s Golden Triangle.
The company’s next steps will involve analyzing the assay results from the Phase 1 drilling, which are anticipated later in the fall. These results will guide the planning for the 2027 field season, with an emphasis on drilling the identified zones to further explore the potential of the Trek South prospect.
