Ordos Cultural Festival Captivates International Guests

Among the international guests was François Tchiegue, an ambassador for China-Africa cultural exchange. As he witnessed the performance of the Ulan Muqir troupe from Wushen Banner, he was deeply moved. Lawrence Wang, an American international student, captured the entire event on his phone. The khoomei (Mongolian throat singing) performances, he found, were enchanting. "When khoomei resonated, it was the most enchanting sound in the world," Wang said. His parents back in the US were treated to clips of the performances, and the breeze of the Ordos grasslands seemed to travel across the ocean with the videos.

Margot Chevestrier, a French expert on the visiting delegation, was struck by the vitality of the dancers. "Everyone was dancing with all their energy and laughing freely," she said. "That kind of vitality is incredibly contagious." She saw in the dance the innate forthrightness, sincerity, and wholehearted warmth that define the people of Inner Mongolia.

Sofia Feoktistova, a Russian international student, was impressed by the innovative choreography of the dance performance "New Era." "Our people are also known for song and dance, but this performance completely reshaped my understanding of Mongolian dance," she noted. The vibrant spirit of the performers left a lasting impression of Ordos as a place both steeped in history and brimming with youthful energy.

Over the course of the week-long event, international guests experienced the folk performing arts, digital cultural creativity, and local specialty products of Ordos.
