The company will feature AVIM Therapy in two sessions. The session will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, from 9:40 to 10:25 a.m. Eastern Time.
AVIM Therapy will be among several emerging pacing-based applications featured in the discussion. This session is scheduled for Friday, September 18, 2026, from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
During the first session, the panel will delve into the mechanism of action of AVIM Therapy and its potential as a cardiac pacing-based treatment for hypertension. The panel will review clinical evidence showing immediate, substantial, and sustained reductions in systolic blood pressure, as well as improvements in hemodynamics and cardiac function. The panel will also provide an update on the BACKBEAT Global Pivotal Trial (BACKBEAT Trial) and examine the collaboration between Orchestra BioMed and Medtronic as a model for accelerating medical device innovation.

The second session will feature a panel of experts, including Prof. Karl-Heinz Kuck, Andrea Russo, Margaret Infeld, Daniel Friedman, and Daniel Lustgarten, to explore the expanding role of permanent cardiac pacing beyond the treatment of bradycardia. The session will highlight AVIM Therapy as an emerging pacing-based approach to treat uncontrolled hypertension and hypertensive heart disease.
AVIM Therapy is an investigational therapy compatible with standard dual-chamber pacemakers designed to substantially and persistently lower blood pressure. It has been evaluated in pilot studies in patients with hypertension who are also indicated for a pacemaker. The MODERATO II, a double-blind, randomized pilot study, showed that patients treated with AVIM Therapy experienced net reductions of 8.1 mmHg in 24-hour ambulatory systolic blood pressure (aSBP) and 12.3 mmHg in office systolic blood pressure (oSBP) at six months when compared to control patients. The BACKBEAT Trial is evaluating the safety and efficacy of AVIM Therapy in lowering blood pressure in patients who have systolic blood pressure above target despite anti-hypertensive medication and who are indicated for or have recently received a dual-chamber cardiac pacemaker.
