Omai Gold Mines Corp. has been added to the VanEck Junior Gold Miners ETF (GDXJ), effective at the market close on September 18, 2026. This inclusion is a significant milestone for the company, as it will increase its market visibility and trading liquidity to a broader range of institutional and retail investors.
Omai Gold Mines Corp. is a Canadian exploration and development company focused on the Omai Gold Project in Guyana, South America. The company recently announced a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) for the project, which includes the large Wenot open pit deposit and the adjacent Gilt underground deposit. The PEA supports a mine plan to produce 6.3 million ounces of gold over an 18-year mine life, with an average annual production of 351,000 ounces. At a base case price of $3,600 per ounce, the project is estimated to have a net asset value of $4.0 billion, discounted at 5%.
The PEA is based on a Mineral Resource Estimate (MRE) that includes 2.5 million ounces of Indicated mineral resources averaging 2.04 grams per tonne (g/t) Au in 38.1 million tonnes, and 5.5 million ounces of Inferred mineral resources averaging 1.59 g/t Au in 106.6 million tonnes. Drilling on the 50,000-meter program is ongoing, with five rigs currently in operation.
Elaine Ellingham, President and CEO of Omai Gold Mines Corp., expressed satisfaction with the inclusion in the GDXJ. "We are pleased to be included in the widely recognized and followed GDXJ index. This inclusion will further elevate our market visibility and trading liquidity profile to a broader range of institutional and retail investors. This is another significant milestone for Omai Gold."
The Omai Gold Project is a past-producer, significantly benefiting from the historical record of economic gold extraction and existing infrastructure, including a cleared site, an on-site airstrip, a tailings facility, known metallurgy, and road connections to the two largest cities in Guyana, Georgetown and Linden.
Omai Gold Mines Corp. continues to focus on expanding the two orogenic gold deposits at the Omai Gold Project. The company is committed to advancing the project as a profitable venture and is exploring potential social and economic benefits to the local community and Guyana as a whole.
