MONTREAL, Nov. 3, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- OCIANA® has successfully completed a key phase of its Operational Validation Testing (OVT) for a unified digital platform designed to enhance global supply chain efficiency and reduce vessel emissions and fuel use. The platform, which enables real-time collaboration among ship operators and ports' stakeholders, marks a significant step toward Just-in-Time (JIT) arrivals and more sustainable shipping practices.

The testing involved collaboration with key partners, including Canada Steamship Lines (CSL), the Montreal Port Authority, the St. Lawrence Pilotage Authority, and Clear Seas. According to Richard Kolacz, CEO of OCIANA®, the platform has demonstrated the ability for stakeholders to work on a single system, exchanging data in real time and coordinating through a transparent, auditable process. This system replaces fragmented email, phone, and spreadsheet exchanges, streamlining the process and reducing the coordination overhead.

OCIANA® Ports, a component of the unified platform, provides a centralized command center for berth scheduling. Booking Requests, Pre Arrival Notifications, and Change Requests all land in one place, facilitating faster and more confident decisions. Configurable alerts and live dashboards flag ETA variances and rescheduled vessels' activities, helping to prevent potential issues before they arise.

OCIANA® Ships, another part of the platform, is being shaped with carrier feedback. It offers a single workflow for every scheduling action, with initial and change requests submitted through guided forms. Real-time status tracking and automated alerts replace manual phone and email follow-up, reducing training time and errors. The next steps include a ship-centric interface for masters and further development of the JIT tool, with plans for onboard testing.

The project, supported by Canada's Ocean Supercluster's Core Technology Leadership Program, has shown that a port's other stakeholders can work on the same system as ports and carriers. Vessel and request information is exchanged in real time, contributing to a single source of truth and full auditability. Every submission, confirmation, rejection, and change is tracked and recorded, supporting compliance and continuous process improvement.

Jean-Francois Belzile, Senior Director, Strategic Projects, Marine Operations at the Montreal Port Authority, expressed pride in contributing to the development of a collaborative digital platform that benefits the entire maritime community.
