Ocean Power Technologies Tests WAM-V Platforms in Surf-Zone Conditions

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J., Sept. 18, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Ocean Power Technologies has advanced the development of its WAM-V 8 platform through a formal demonstration in challenging surf-zone conditions at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Field Research Facility in Duck, North Carolina. The demonstration, which generated data and operational insights, aims to inform the continued development of the company’s 16- and 22-foot WAM-V platforms for demanding near-shore environments.

The testing addressed sensor performance, vehicle configuration, and sensor deployment methods, while identifying design improvements and operational and safety considerations relevant to customer requirements.
