Nurminen Logistics Increases Sweden-Italy Rail Service Frequency

Nurminen Logistics has expanded its rail service between Sweden and Italy, adding a second weekly departure starting from October 1, 2026. The move aims to enhance capacity and flexibility for customers, offering more options in planning supply chains.

The Sweden-Italy rail service, launched earlier this year, operates between the Castelguelfo terminal near Parma and the Frövi terminal in central Sweden. With a transit time of approximately 2.5 to 3 days, the service provides a fast and reliable connection between Southern Europe and the Nordic region. The route is part of a fully integrated logistics solution managed by Nurminen Logistics, which handles first- and last-mile transportation, terminal operations, and all required transport documentation, ensuring a seamless door-to-door service.

In addition to the increased frequency, Nurminen Logistics has deployed a more versatile wagon fleet, enabling the transport of a wider range of container types and dangerous goods. This expansion enhances the service's flexibility and adaptability, catering to diverse customer needs. The strategically located terminals in Parma and Frövi offer efficient access to major industrial regions, logistics hubs, and ports, supporting onward deliveries across Italy, Sweden, and beyond.

According to Marjut Linnajärvi, Vice President of International Rail Operations and Sales at Nurminen Logistics, the second weekly departure is designed to provide customers with more capacity and flexibility. "More frequent departures reduce waiting times, support smoother connections to road and maritime transport, and improve delivery predictability," said Linnajärvi. "Customers increasingly want one logistics partner to manage the entire transport chain, and by combining rail transport with first- and last-mile services, terminal operations, and documentation, we make international freight flows easier and more efficient to manage."
