CHATTANOOGA, Tenn., Sept. 09, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- NOVONIX Limited, a leading battery materials company, has received positive feedback from its lead customer regarding the testing of a mass production qualification sample of synthetic graphite anode active material. The sample met 12 out of 14 total specification parameters, according to the initial shipment results. However, the material fell short on two specifications, with one being within approximately 1% of the requirement and the other assessed on a pass/fail basis under the customer's testing criteria.

NOVONIX's internal testing confirmed that the material met all required specifications. The company is committed to addressing the remaining specification parameters to achieve full material confirmation and secure a North American battery materials supply chain. "The testing and feedback from our lead customer enable targeted actions to achieve final material confirmation and help us set ourselves apart as an advanced provider of critical battery materials," stated Mike O’Kronley, CEO of NOVONIX.

The rigorous qualification process involves sensitive testing methodologies and is subject to variations in testing equipment, protocols, environmental conditions, and other factors. NOVONIX has identified actions to address the customer's feedback and continue progressing toward full-scale commercial production. The company anticipates the commencement of mass production sales to its lead customer to begin in the second half of 2027, contingent upon successful completion of the qualification process.

"We are dedicated to working closely with our customers to validate a North American source of synthetic graphite," O’Kronley added. NOVONIX is building a resilient North American battery materials supply chain to reduce risk and support U.S. energy independence. Headquartered in Chattanooga, Tennessee, the company produces high-performance synthetic graphite anode materials for lithium-ion batteries, serving energy storage, electric vehicles, and industrial markets through its proprietary technologies and expanding manufacturing capacity.

NOVONIX remains focused on scaling critical battery materials to meet growing global demand. The company's ongoing efforts to develop a secure North American supply chain reflect its commitment to reducing dependency on foreign sources and enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities. The rigorous testing and feedback received from its lead customer are essential steps in this process, ensuring that the company meets the stringent requirements of the battery industry.

In summary, NOVONIX is making progress in qualifying its synthetic graphite anode active material for mass production, with the support and collaboration of its lead customer. The company’s internal testing confirmed that the material met all required specifications, but it is addressing the two parameters that did not meet the customer’s requirements. This progress is a key step in NOVONIX’s mission to establish a reliable and secure North American battery materials supply chain.
