Norbert Health Secures $14M for Autonomous Robotic Nursing Assistants

Norbert Health, a company developing autonomous robotic nursing assistants, has secured $14 million in Series A funding to further its mission in healthcare. The round was led by William A. Marino with Cardinal Group, and includes participation from Exor Seeds, CareIT, and angel investors such as Alexis Le-Quoc and Olivier Pomel (Datadog), Saeju Jeong (Noom), and Thomas Clozel (Owkin).
According to Alex Winter, CEO and co-founder of Norbert Health, the U.S. healthcare system is struggling with a shortage of nearly a million nurses, and more than two million trained nurses are choosing not to work bedside due to the increasing demands of the job. "Robotic assistants with clinical skills can help reduce the burden on nurses, but previous attempts have focused on logistics rather than addressing the core needs of patient care," Winter explained.
Norbert Health’s technology transforms robotic hardware into autonomous nursing assistants capable of performing a wide range of tasks. These tasks include making rounds, capturing vital signs, conducting assessments, handling patient requests, and documenting interactions into electronic health records (EHR). The company’s robots are designed to walk, navigate, and carry, but they require additional clinical and care-related skills to function effectively within the healthcare setting.
Norbert Health’s proprietary AI stack includes contactless physiological monitoring, mobility and motor function assessments, cognitive and mental health markers, and behavioral and social activity tracking. This technology enables the robots to communicate effectively with patients, run structured assessments, and coordinate with staff. The combination of these skills helps identify early signs of readmissions and acute events, freeing up nurses and certified nursing assistants (CNAs) for more hands-on, relationship-based care.
Norbert Health has been live in production since August 2025, rounding on hundreds of patients daily across skilled nursing facilities in the United States. Patient acceptance rates are at 96%, and monitoring compliance has reached 82%, nearly double the baseline for manual remote monitoring. Care teams using Norbert-powered robots are catching acute events early, preventing them from becoming bigger problems. Additionally, the robots help activate compliant reimbursable opportunities, contributing to profitable, value-based care.

Saeju Jeong, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Noom, a digital health platform, added, "Healthcare labor is one of the largest markets in the U.S. economy, and robots have never had a credible route into it until now. Norbert built that route, and this is the team to define the category."
The new capital will be used to deepen the clinical skill library, advance regulatory clearances, and expand deployments across skilled nursing facilities and into new care settings. Current development areas include post-fall neurological evaluations, pressure injury prevention protocols, cognitive screening, and fall risk reassessment, all of which will be implemented on top of the existing installed base.
