The Long Way to Me, a new documentary, premiered on October 17, 2026, in Houston during Plastic Surgery The Meeting. The film follows Bethany’s journey through breast cancer reconstruction, highlighting the advancements in surgical planning and device technology that have transformed the field.
Bethany, a patient diagnosed with breast cancer, embarked on a journey that included re-consultation with Dr. Kamakshi Zeidler, a founder of Aesthetx, a fully integrated practice that combines plastic surgery, dermatology, and aesthetic medicine. Dr. Zeidler’s approach emphasizes tailoring care to the patient’s treatment, anatomy, and aesthetic goals, even when the path is complex and longer than anticipated.
The documentary showcases Bethany’s reconstruction, which included the Motiva Flora®, the first and only magnet-free, MR Conditional tissue expander in the United States. This innovative device, along with Essence Acellular Dermal Matrix for soft-tissue support and Puregraft Sync® fat transfer for contour refinement, helped Bethany achieve an outcome close to her original aesthetic goals. Her perioperative skincare regimen included CO2Lift® PRO to support tissue vascularity and oxygenation for skin healing.
Dr. Zeidler, a key figure in the development of these technologies, emphasized the importance of these advancements in breast cancer reconstruction.
The documentary also brings together the founders and executive leaders of the companies whose products supported Bethany’s reconstruction. These include Lineage, a platform for founder-physicians in aesthetic medicine, and Bimini Health Tech, a global medical technology company dedicated to advancing women’s health, particularly in breast reconstruction. Bimini Health Tech’s portfolio includes the Puregraft® family of fat transfer systems, Essence Acellular Dermal Matrix, and Serene® Structured Saline Breast Implants. With over 100 patents, 20 regulatory clearances and approvals, and over 25 scientific publications, Bimini’s technologies have supported more than 1.5 million procedures worldwide since 2010.
The film underscores the collaborative efforts of these companies and their commitment to developing products that have a meaningful impact on women’s lives throughout treatment, reconstruction, and recovery. It highlights how individualized reconstruction can honor aesthetic goals alongside cancer treatment and recovery.
Produced by Jared Frazer, the documentary draws on more than a decade of collaboration between Frazer and Dr. Zeidler, sharing authentic patient stories and translating complex clinical advances into compelling films. The premiere of The Long Way to Me marks a significant moment in the field of breast cancer reconstruction, showcasing the progress and innovation that have transformed the journey for patients like Bethany.
