NervGen Hosts Inaugural R&D Day to Review NVG-291 Program

NervGen, a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company developing first-in-class neuroreparative therapeutics for spinal cord injury (SCI) and other neurotraumatic and neurologic conditions, is set to host its inaugural Research and Development (R&D) Day on September 30, 2026. The event aims to provide an in-depth review of the company’s NVG-291 program, covering its scientific foundation, broader therapeutic potential, clinical data, and the design and rationale of the Phase 3 RESTORE study.

Scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time, the live webcast will feature four leading experts in the field of spinal cord injury research and care. These experts will offer a comprehensive view of the NVG-291 program from various perspectives, including clinical care, outcome assessment, translational research, and community advocacy.

Dr. Benjamin Abramoff, the Director of SCI Services and Associate Professor of Clinical Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, will lead the discussion on SCI clinical care. Dr. Sukhvinder Kalsi-Ryan, a Clinician Scientist at KITE Research Institute, UHN and Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Toronto, will present on upper-limb recovery and the measurement of neurological and functional change post-SCI. Philippa Warren, a Sir Henry Dale Senior Fellow at King’s College London, will discuss the biological mechanisms and therapeutic approaches for motor and respiratory recovery following SCI. Barry Munro, Chief Development Officer of the Canadian Spinal Research Organization and Director of the North American Spinal Cord Injury Consortium (NASCIC), will provide insights on patient-focused drug development and the lived experiences of individuals with SCI.

The event will also highlight the Phase 1 and Phase 1b/2a CONNECT SCI study, which has generated significant clinical data on NVG-291’s effectiveness in individuals with chronic cervical SCI. Additionally, the presentation will delve into the Phase 3 RESTORE study, designed to further validate the therapeutic potential of NVG-291 in addressing chronic SCI.

NervGen’s NVG-291 is a subcutaneously administered neuroreparative peptide designed to target the inhibitory CSPG-PTPσ pathway, aiming to improve function, independence, and quality of life for individuals with SCI. The Fast Track designation from the FDA and Orphan Drug designation from the European Medicines Agency underscore the company’s commitment to advancing SCI treatment.
