The National Space Society has announced its inaugural 'NSS 30 Under 30' class, recognizing 30 young professionals who are making significant contributions to the space sector. This unique program, which is part of an annual competition, aims to support the next generation of space leaders by providing mentorship and collaboration opportunities.

Jennifer Rothblatt, who is directing the NSS 30 Under 30 program, highlighted the importance of these honorees.

The honorees, selected through a rigorous multi-stage review involving NSS leadership, subject advisors, and the NSS Young Professionals community, were evaluated based on four criteria: impact, potential, relevance, and merit. The competition attracted a wide range of candidates, including engineers, scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs, advocates, and professionals in medicine, law, education, business, and technology.

This inaugural class of 30 individuals will be featured on the initiative's website for a full year, allowing them to leverage their status to prospective employers, business partners, and potential funding sources. The honorees will also be further represented through individual media spotlights, interviews, social media, NSS Young Professionals programming, and coverage in the society’s quarterly magazine, "Ad Astra."

The National Space Society, founded in 1987 via a merger of the National Space Institute and the L5 Society, has established itself as the preeminent non-partisan citizens' voice on space exploration, development, and settlement. With a membership reaching millions, the organization continues to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of space.

The 'NSS 30 Under 30' program is a testament to the society's commitment to fostering the next generation of space professionals. As the society looks to the future, it is clear that the success of space endeavors will depend on the innovation and leadership of these young professionals.

The program is designed to provide honorees with unique mentorship and collaboration opportunities, joining them with seasoned space professionals from various backgrounds, including NASA, other national space agencies, entrepreneurs, space industry thought leaders, and NSS members and international chapters. This comprehensive support system is intended to help these young professionals advance their careers and make even greater contributions to the space community.
