The National Bank of the Kyrgyz Republic (NBKR) and CertiK have entered into a long-term strategic partnership aimed at enhancing the security and oversight of digital assets within the country. The agreement, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will leverage CertiK’s expertise in blockchain and digital asset security to support the NBKR’s efforts in maintaining the integrity and safety of the digital Som, the national cryptocurrency.

According to Sanzhar Abdygaziev, a member of the NBKR’s Management Board, the partnership will facilitate the exchange of experience and expertise in critical areas such as blockchain and digital asset security, cybersecurity, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing (AML/CFT), and the analysis and monitoring of digital asset transactions.

Ronghui Gu, Co-Founder and CEO of CertiK, expressed optimism about the partnership.

Under the terms of the MoU, CertiK will provide technical and strategic support in areas including blockchain and digital asset security, security assessments, formal verification, cybersecurity, and operational resilience. The partnership will also extend to digital asset oversight and regulatory advisory support, covering AML/CFT, digital asset custody, security standards, and licensing requirements. CertiK’s Supervision and Compliance solutions will be deployed to strengthen ongoing risk monitoring and regulatory oversight, alongside training and knowledge transfer in relevant technical and regulatory areas.

CertiK has a proven track record of contributing to digital asset regulatory and policy discussions across multiple markets. The company has provided technical advisory support to regulators in the United States and responded to regulatory consultations issued by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). These engagements highlight the growing role of technical security expertise in supporting regulated digital asset markets and infrastructure.

The NBKR, as the country’s central bank, is committed to maintaining price stability, safeguarding the stability of the banking and payment systems, and supporting the sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan’s financial sector. The partnership with CertiK is part of the NBKR’s broader strategy to modernize payments, expand financial inclusion, and strengthen the resilience and efficiency of the country’s financial ecosystem.

Through this collaboration, the NBKR and CertiK aim to establish a robust framework for the secure and sustainable development of digital assets in Kyrgyzstan, ensuring that the digital Som and other digital assets are protected against potential risks and threats.
