Nation Gold Corp. has announced an expansion of its exploration program at the Bonito Gold-Silver Project in the historic Nogal-Bonito Mining District of Lincoln County, New Mexico. The company is collaborating with Rangefront Mining Services and ProDeMin USA LLC to advance geological mapping and rock-chip sampling efforts, as well as conducting an airborne drone magnetic survey over the property.
According to Mark Bailey, CEO and Director of Nation Gold, the company is making significant progress at Bonito. The initial program includes a comprehensive follow-up with ProDeMin geologists, which will involve collecting more than 300 rock-chip samples across prospective mineralized zones. This builds on the company's initial limited sampling program and the recently completed airborne magnetic survey.
The drone magnetic survey utilized a survey line spacing of approximately 50 meters at a nominal sensor altitude above ground level of 40 meters. Nation Gold is compiling and interpreting the available geological, geochemical, and geophysical information to support a more comprehensive exploration model. Additional rock-chip sampling and geological mapping are currently underway across prospective areas of the property, including the Main Breccia Zone.
Nation Gold has engaged ProDeMin, an independent specialized geological consultancy led by Dr. Craig Gibson, to execute a comprehensive fieldwork program, provide technical support, and assist with planning and coordinating the company's next phase of exploration at Bonito. ProDeMin personnel are expected to mobilize to the property this month to commence a comprehensive rock-chip sampling program, targeting prospective mineralized zones across the company's expanded land package, including the Main Breccia Zone.
The company is preparing a proposed Plan of Operations (POO) application to support an initial Phase 1 exploration drilling program. The proposed application contemplates five drill pads, each measuring approximately 30 feet by 70 feet. Nation Gold anticipates submitting its POO application to the applicable regulatory authorities in the coming weeks.
Environmental studies are also underway, with Nation Gold engaging Cedar Creek Associates Inc., an independent US-based environmental consulting firm, to assist with environmental assessments, biological surveys, and regulatory permitting activities at the Bonito Project. Cedar Creek is expected to mobilize to the property in the coming week to commence field investigations and advance the permitting process.
The Bonito Project was formerly in production in the late 1800s and has seen limited modern exploration, most recently in the 1980s and 1990s by Pioneer Metals and Placer Dome. Nation Gold's exploration efforts aim to evaluate the project's discovery potential in a historically productive gold-silver district with a significantly expanded land position and limited modern exploration.
