NanoXplore Qualifies as Supplier for Canadian Defence Drone Initiative

MONTREAL, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- NanoXplore Inc, a leading manufacturer of graphene-enhanced materials, has been selected as a qualified supplier under the Government of Canada's Defence Drone Initiative (DDI) Marketplace. The company, which produces both graphene-enhanced composite components and graphene-enhanced lithium-ion battery cells, has been approved in Stream 5 (Innovation and Experimentation).

This qualification marks NanoXplore's entry into the Government of Canada's pre-qualified supplier pool, enabling the company to participate in future opportunities related to uncrewed and autonomous systems in support of the Canadian Armed Forces and Canadian Coast Guard. The selection is part of a broader initiative launched by the Government of Canada in July 2026, aimed at accelerating the development, testing, adaptation, and production of Canadian uncrewed and autonomous systems.

NanoXplore, based in Canada, is a graphene company with a significant presence in multiple end markets. The corporation has an annual production capacity of up to 5,000 tonnes of graphene powder and provides standard and custom graphene-enhanced plastic and composite products to customers in the recreational vehicle, transportation, packaging, electronics, and other industrial sectors. Additionally, NanoXplore manufactures silicon-graphene-enhanced lithium-ion batteries for the energy storage, industrial, and defense markets.

The DDI Marketplace, established by the Government of Canada, connects the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces with pre-qualified Canadian suppliers through a streamlined procurement mechanism. The initiative is part of a planned investment of approximately $180 billion in direct defence procurement over the next decade, with uncrewed and autonomous systems identified as one of ten sovereign capability priorities under Canada's Defence Industrial Strategy.

This qualification for NanoXplore and its partner, VoltaXplore Inc, positions the companies as key players in the development and production of advanced materials and battery cells for uncrewed and autonomous systems. The selection reflects the growing importance of domestic innovation and production in Canada's defence sector.
