Modern Widows Club Receives Grant, Names Angelica Berrie 2026 Leadership Awardee

Modern Widows Club® has received a $15,000 grant from the Russell Berrie Foundation and will honor Angelica Berrie with the 2026 Leadership Award at its upcoming Legacy & Leadership Awards Dinner on October 20 in Jersey City.
The grant will be used to guide widowed women through the organization's signature Hope • Heal • Grow • Lead® healthy widowhood framework. This framework aims to support widows as they move from grief into personal growth, renewed purpose, leadership, and advocacy. The grant underscores the organization's commitment to providing comprehensive support and resources to help widows navigate their lives after the loss of a loved one.
Angelica Berrie, President of The Russell Berrie Foundation, will receive the 2026 Leadership Award. Berrie is recognized nationally for her decades of philanthropic leadership, including her work advancing diabetes research, interfaith understanding, and community resilience throughout New Jersey and Israel.
The Legacy & Leadership Awards Dinner will also honor Dr. Mary-Frances O'Connor with the 2026 Legacy Award, recognizing her contributions to the understanding of grief and loss through neuroscience. The event is open to widowed members, advocates, community leaders, professionals, and the public, with New York Life Foundation serving as a key sponsor.
