JERSEY CITY, N.J., Oct. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Misunderstood Brands, the company behind OATRAGEOUS Oat Milk Cream Liqueur and Misunderstood Whiskey Co., has opened its investment round to the public, following a breakout year that saw the company generate $8.5 million in lifetime revenue over nine years, with $1.7 million in 2025, up 24% from the previous year. The company has sold more than 800,000 bottles since its inception, with retail depletions up 32% across roughly 5,000 points of distribution in 13 states, and an account reorder rate above 50%.
OATRAGEOUS, the first dairy-free Bourbon cream liqueur portfolio in the U.S., is now available at Total Wine & More, Wegmans, Publix, Spec's, and Meijer, with Walmart and Whole Foods slated for Q4 2026. OATRAGEOUS Espresso is also served as an exclusive cream liqueur on JetBlue flights, reaching an estimated 40 million customers nationwide. The brand has been recognized for its innovation, being named the #17 Most Innovative Spirit in the World by The Spirits Business in 2024 for creating the world's first dairy-free Bourbon cream.
Misunderstood Whiskey, produced in Bardstown, Kentucky, the bourbon capital of the world, is designed for those who have always assumed whiskey wasn't for them. The lineup includes award-winning Ginger Spiced Whiskey and Orange Blossom Bourbon, both of which are approachable neat, on the rocks, or in a cocktail. The brand has earned industry recognition, with OATRAGEOUS receiving a Golden Ticket at Walmart's Open Call, extended to roughly 1 in 5 invited brands, and Misunderstood Whiskey winning Platinum and an Innovation Award at the SIP Awards (2025), a global beverage competition.
The company's recent success has led to the launch of a Regulation Crowdfunding (Reg CF) offering on Wefunder, allowing fans, industry insiders, and consumer-brand investors to invest starting at $100. The offering is structured as a SAFE with an $14 million valuation cap and a 20% discount, targeting $1,235,000 under Regulation Crowdfunding. Proceeds will be earmarked for sales headcount, local advertising and promotion, new product COGS, digital marketing, and working capital as the company scales distribution and launches a new 100mL premium canned RTD line, currently the fastest-growing category in beverage alcohol and already approved for distribution at Total Wine.
Misunderstood Brands is backed by a board and advisory group whose members include alumni of Bacardi, Pernod Ricard, Beam Suntory, Campari, Diageo, William Grant & Sons, Sazerac, and Moët Hennessy. Advisors also include Karen Weiler, former Global Brand President of M.A.C. Cosmetics, and Brooke Swensen, Chief Commercial Officer of Ripple Foods.
