Mikkeller, the Danish craft beer brand, has teamed up with iGulu, a smart homebrewing company, to bring one of its most iconic beers, Beer Geek Breakfast, into the homebrewing experience. The collaboration, announced on September 13, 2026, aims to give beer enthusiasts the opportunity to not only enjoy the beer but also to brew it themselves using iGulu’s smart brewing system.

Beer Geek Breakfast, developed by Mikkel Bjergsø in a small Copenhagen kitchen, quickly gained international recognition. It was voted the No. 1 stout on RateBeer and became a major breakthrough for Mikkeller on the international beer scene. The beer is known for its bold coffee character, rich, silky body, and a smooth oat-led finish. The new ingredient kit from Mikkeller and iGulu preserves these defining characteristics, making it more approachable and repeatable for homebrewers.

The Mikkeller x iGulu Beer Geek Breakfast Ingredient Kit is designed specifically for the iGulu smart brewing system. Users can scan an RFID recipe card included in the kit, which automatically loads the recommended fermentation program. The iGulu system then manages key conditions such as temperature and pressure throughout the brewing process, ensuring a consistent and controlled outcome. The complete brewing and fermentation process takes approximately 14 days and produces around one gallon of finished beer.

The kit is set to debut on September 22 through an iGulu Kickstarter campaign, offering early-bird backers special launch pricing and priority access. The ingredient kit is compatible with the iGulu S1, S1 NEO, F1, F1 PRO, and F2 brewing systems and is expected to begin shipping in Q1 2027. Final fulfillment details will be shared with backers through campaign updates.

Mikkeller’s Mikkel Bjergsø emphasized the significance of the collaboration: "Beer Geek Breakfast began as a homebrewing experiment in my Copenhagen kitchen. Now, it is coming home again, giving a new generation of beer enthusiasts the chance to recreate this iconic beer in their own homes."

The collaboration not only preserves the beer's defining profile but also makes the brewing process more accessible.

The Mikkeller x iGulu Beer Geek Breakfast Ingredient Kit is expected to launch on Kickstarter on September 22, 2026, marking a new chapter in the beer's journey from a Copenhagen kitchen to the world and back home.
