MicroVision Unveils Expanded Perception Portfolio at IAA 2026

MicroVision, a leader in advanced perception technologies, showcased its expanding portfolio of sensing and perception solutions at the IAA Transportation 2026 event in Hanover, Germany. The company demonstrated its new MicroVision Perception Platform, which offers a flexible, modular architecture designed to tailor sensing and perception configurations to the specific needs of individual applications.

At the center of MicroVision’s presence at IAA was the newly introduced Perception Platform. This platform is part of the company’s Lidar 2.0 strategy, which aims to integrate lidar hardware, perception software, and open sensor integration to address complex applications in transportation and autonomy. Visitors to the MicroVision display, located in Hall 11 Booth D02, could experience the latest configurations of the MOVIA S short-range lidar, the HALO long-range lidar, and a first look at the company’s FMCW ultra-long-range sensing technology.

The company also unveiled a new commercial vehicle perception concept, highlighting how its technology can support increasingly automated commercial vehicles. The concept combines the MicroVision Perception Platform with MOVIA S and HALO sensors to provide 360-degree sensing and perception, addressing a range of applications including highway trucking, autonomous freight, and last-mile delivery.

MicroVision’s CEO, Glen DeVos, emphasized the company’s strategy of perception adapting to the application rather than forcing the application to adapt to the sensor.

The new MOVIA S configuration, which is expected to begin production in October 2026, was also highlighted. This next-generation lidar technology showcased advancements in point-cloud quality, perception, and SLAM-based mapping. The demonstration at IAA Transportation highlighted MicroVision’s progress toward commercial availability of the new MOVIA S.

Additionally, the company demonstrated the potential of its FMCW ultra-long-range sensing technology, which could extend perception capabilities across commercial, industrial, automotive, and autonomous applications. FMCW technology has the potential to combine ultra-long-range sensing with additional velocity information, opening new opportunities for perception systems operating in complex and dynamic environments.

MicroVision’s booth at IAA Transportation also featured presentations on safety and autonomy in commercial vehicles. On Tuesday, 15 September, DeVos spoke about how short-range perception is closing the near-field gap in commercial vehicles. On Wednesday, 16 September, he discussed how long-range perception technologies are transforming commercial vehicles.

The company’s booth also offered guided tours demonstrating how its individual sensing and software technologies work together as part of a broader perception architecture. Attendees could see potential functions such as object and pedestrian detection, blind-zone monitoring, free-space detection, obstacle awareness, low-speed maneuvering, and autonomous operation.

Through these demonstrations, MicroVision aimed to showcase the breadth of its portfolio and its commitment to addressing perception challenges across a wide range of applications. The company’s strategy is to provide integrated hardware and software solutions designed for real-world performance, automotive-grade reliability, and economic scalability.
