PORTLAND, Maine, Oct. 9, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence (MCEDV) has launched a limited-edition Sea Bags collection to support domestic violence survivors, aiming to raise funds for their escape and economic rebuilding. The collection, which includes the Liberation Tote and Liberation Cosmetic Case, will see 35% of the proceeds go towards the MCEDV's Liberation Fund, which assists survivors in overcoming financial barriers.

Every year, over 14,000 people in Maine experience domestic abuse, with financial abuse being present in 99% of cases. Survivors often face significant challenges, needing as little as $50 for a full tank of gas or $100 for a security camera to ensure their safety. The MCEDV's Liberation Fund has provided over $675,000 to nearly 1,400 survivors since its inception in 2020, covering expenses such as security deposits, attorney fees, and back-to-school supplies.

The Liberation Collection, designed in collaboration with Portland, Maine-based creative agency Words From The Woods, features a fiddlehead fern on one side, symbolizing growth and healing. The other side shows the fern fully open, representing the journey from self-protection to independence and renewal. The Liberation Tote, priced at $250, and the Liberation Cosmetic Case, priced at $95, are available for presale on the MCEDV website until December 31, with orders by October 31 guaranteed to arrive by December 25.

The MCEDV's Liberation Fund provides survivors with emergency financial assistance for immediate survival needs and long-term rebuilding. Gifts of any size can make a significant impact, with $50 covering a full tank of gas and $100 funding a security camera. The fund has supported survivors in overcoming obstacles that cost as little as $300 to resolve.

Founded in 1977, the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence works to end intimate partner and family abuse in all its forms, including coercive control, physical violence, sexual abuse, stalking, financial exploitation, and sex trafficking. MCEDV serves its network of nine member organizations across Maine with training, technical assistance, and support, while advocating for survivor-centered policies at the state and federal level.

Sea Bags, a company founded on Portland, Maine's working waterfront, transforms retired sails into durable totes, bags, and home goods. The Liberation Collection is part of Sea Bags' commitment to sustainability, giving retired sails a new purpose and keeping them out of landfills. The company employs over 200 people and remains rooted in Maine, operating more than 30 company-owned retail stores across the United States.

The MCEDV Liberation Sea Bags Collection is available for presale on the MCEDV site through December 31. Orders placed by October 31 are guaranteed to arrive by December 25. To learn more about MCEDV's Fund Safety campaign, visit mcedv.org.
