Maura Burns Joins SAGINT Board to Address Material Traceability

Maura Burns, a former Chief Operating Officer of the Central Intelligence Agency, has joined the board of advisors for SAGINT, a company that issues Digital Warehouse Receipts to ensure the authenticity and traceability of critical materials.

Burns spent three decades at the CIA, where she managed the agency's global business operations and spearheaded the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence and cybersecurity. Her expertise in verifying the origin and authenticity of materials will be invaluable as SAGINT works to meet the stringent requirements set by new regulations.

Effective January 1, 2027, the U.S. government is tightening the rules for the origin of critical materials. The new restrictions extend from merely melted or produced materials to include those mined, refined, separated, or produced in covered countries. This change is part of a broader effort to secure America's defense supply chains and ensure the domestic acquisition of critical materials.

SAGINT's Digital Warehouse Receipts address these new challenges by computing the origin, custody chain, control state, and assay from the producer's own process data. Each lot is assigned a unique receipt that travels with the material, ensuring that its history is verified at every transfer. The receipts are designed to provide a more robust and verifiable foundation for decisions made by industry, lenders, and government entities.
