Martin Guitar Unveils Podcast Featuring Notable Musicians

Martin Guitar, a company with over 200 years of history in crafting acoustic instruments, has unveiled a new podcast called Martin Stories. Hosted by Jimmy Leslie, the Frets Acoustic Editor at Guitar Player magazine, the podcast aims to delve into the personal and professional journeys of artists who have Martin guitars at the center of their musical lives.
Each episode of Martin Stories explores the unique stories behind the music, the instruments, and the artists who play them. Leslie, a Bay Area-based writer, guitarist, and vocalist who records under the name Spirit Hustler, brings his expertise to the table, providing in-depth conversations that go beyond the music.
The first two episodes of the podcast, released on August 12 and 26, feature notable musicians Kenneth Pattengale of The Milk Carton Kids and blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa.
In the debut episode, Pattengale shares the story of his 1954 Martin 0-15, which he first encountered in a museum. His journey to acquiring the guitar and its influence on his own Martin signature model are central to the episode. Pattengale discusses his approach to creating The Milk Carton Kids' distinctive sound and the importance of authenticity in his choice of instruments.
The second episode, featuring Bonamassa, begins with his childhood experiences in a vintage guitar shop where he grew up. Bonamassa delves into the path from his first Martin to his latest signature models, inspired by a vintage 1937 00-18. His conversation touches on his fascination with pre-war instruments and the lessons he has learned over decades of recording, touring, and collecting guitars.
New episodes of Martin Stories will be released every two weeks, with upcoming guests including Don Felder, Brooke Ligertwood, and Eric Johnson. The podcast is produced by Elizabeth Evans Media and is available on major platforms such as Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube.
With a focus on sharing the personal and professional stories of artists who have Martin guitars, Martin Stories aims to bring the rich history and craftsmanship of Martin guitars to a broader audience. The podcast offers a unique glimpse into the lives of musicians who are deeply connected to their instruments and the stories they tell through their music.
