NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Lupus Research Alliance (LRA) will host its Walk with Us to Cure Lupus on Saturday, October 24, a community-driven event aimed at raising funds and awareness for lupus research. The event, which will take place in New York City, will also be available through the Global Walk, a livestream on the organization's Instagram (@LupusResearchAlliance) for those unable to attend in person. The LRA, the world's largest private funder of lupus research, has raised over $46 million for lupus research through its Walks over the past two decades, demonstrating the significant impact of these events.

The event in New York City will feature entertainment, light refreshments, face painters, photo booths, a Kids Zone, and inspirational speakers. It will kick off with check-in and festivities beginning at 8:00 AM ET, followed by the Walk, which will run from 9:30-11:00 AM ET. The event will also feature a keynote speaker, Adrienne Nicole, who has been a long-time supporter and advocate for the Lupus Research Alliance, and will be the event's emcee. Diagnosed with lupus at age 31, Ms. Nicole has walked with the organization since 2014, raising over $15,000 to support lupus research.

Lupus is a chronic, complex autoimmune disease that affects millions of people worldwide. Ninety percent of people with lupus are women, most often diagnosed between the ages of 15-45. Black, Latinx, Indigenous, Asian, and Pacific Islander people are disproportionately affected by lupus. The LRA aims to transform treatment by funding the most innovative lupus research, fostering scientific talent, and driving discovery toward better diagnostics, improved treatments, and, ultimately, a cure for lupus. Because the LRA's Board of Directors funds all administrative and fundraising costs, 100% of all donations go to support lupus research programs.

The event will also feature 2026 Walks Ambassador Qiana Alexander, who has been a dedicated walker since 2014. Alexander, diagnosed with lupus at age 31, has raised over $15,000 for the LRA.

The LRA extends its gratitude to the thousands of dedicated walkers, volunteers, donors, and sponsors whose support makes these events possible. The organization also recognizes National Walks Sponsor Genentech, which partnered with the LRA in support of all 2026 Walks. The New York Walk is additionally sponsored by Hospital for Special Surgery, National Football League (NFL) Foundation, Beeline Medicines, Northwell Health, NYU Langone Health, EMD Serono, WCBS-TV, and iHeartMedia.
