BALLERUP, Denmark, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- LiqTech International, Inc., a clean technology company specializing in advanced filtration technologies, has secured a significant new order in China. Shanghai Qiyao Environmental Technology Co. Ltd. has placed an order for two water treatment units for intelligent control by exhaust recycling (iCER) marine engine applications. Delivery is scheduled for December 2026.
This order marks Shanghai Qiyao Environmental Technology’s first purchase of LiqTech’s iCER water treatment systems and expands an existing relationship previously focused on marine scrubber water treatment. The order follows a series of recent marine orders since LiqTech’s joint venture in China, established in November 2024. These include scrubber water treatment units in May 2025, dual-fuel engine water treatment systems announced in November 2025, and four exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) water treatment systems announced in June 2026.
In iCER applications, water is used to cool and clean exhaust gas before part of the gas is recirculated into the engine. Soot, oil, and other contaminants must be removed from the circulating water. LiqTech’s water treatment units use proprietary silicon carbide ceramic membranes to separate these contaminants and support water reuse and reliable system operation.
LiqTech’s silicon carbide membranes combine fine-particle filtration with chemical resistance, temperature tolerance, and mechanical durability suited to demanding marine environments. The Company’s experience from more than 170 marine scrubber installations provides an established foundation as it extends its offering to iCER and EGR applications.
LiqTech’s joint venture in China supports local engineering, sourcing, assembly, and service, while core silicon carbide membranes continue to be manufactured in Denmark. This operating model is intended to improve responsiveness to customers and shipyards in the region.
The iCER technology is designed to address the challenges of exhaust gas treatment in marine engines. By using water to cool and clean the exhaust gas, a portion of the gas is recirculated back into the engine, reducing emissions and improving efficiency. LiqTech’s proprietary silicon carbide ceramic membranes are critical in this process, as they effectively separate contaminants from the water, ensuring its reuse and maintaining the reliability of the system.
LiqTech’s experience in marine scrubber installations, which number more than 170, provides a strong foundation for its expansion into iCER and EGR applications. The Company’s technology is well-suited for the demanding marine environment, offering fine-particle filtration, chemical resistance, temperature tolerance, and mechanical durability.
The joint venture in China is a key component of LiqTech’s strategy to enhance its local presence and responsiveness. By supporting local engineering, sourcing, assembly, and service, the joint venture aims to streamline operations and better serve customers and shipyards in the region. The core silicon carbide membranes continue to be manufactured in Denmark, ensuring the highest quality and reliability.
This order is a significant milestone for LiqTech, marking the company’s continued growth and diversification in the marine sector. As customers increasingly adopt new engine technologies, LiqTech is well-positioned to meet their needs with its advanced filtration solutions.
