Taunton, MA, Oct. 20, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Lilly Endowment Inc. has awarded Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) a $10 million capacity-building grant to advance its mission of building specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans nationwide. This significant investment underscores the organization's commitment to supporting Veterans who have sustained injuries such as multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, blindness, severe burns, and severe traumatic brain injury (TBI).

HFOT, a publicly funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been building homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans since its inception in 2004. Nearly 90 cents of every dollar spent by the organization goes directly to its program services for Veterans, ensuring that the funds are used to their fullest potential. The grant will help strengthen HFOT’s technology and operational infrastructure while expanding its fundraising and storytelling capabilities. This investment positions the organization for sustainable growth and enables it to serve Veterans and supporters more effectively for years to come.

These specially adapted homes built by HFOT restore some of the freedom and independence that these Veterans have sacrificed while defending the country. These homes enable Veterans to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.

The grant will support HFOT in continuing its mission and serving more Veterans and their families nationwide. Since its inception, HFOT has built homes where the Veteran chooses to live, ensuring that the homes are tailored to their specific needs. This investment will help HFOT build on the strong foundation it has established and prepare for the future.

Lilly Endowment Inc., a private foundation created in 1937 by J.K. Lilly Sr., has a long history of supporting organizations that provide crucial support to military and Veteran serving organizations. This grant is part of a broader effort to help these organizations strengthen their work with members of the armed services, Veterans, and their families. The grant will help HFOT build on the strong foundation it has established and prepare for the future as it continues to serve Veterans and their families nationwide.

This investment is part of a broader strategy by Lilly Endowment to support organizations that serve military and Veteran populations. The grant will enable HFOT to enhance its technology and operational infrastructure, expand its fundraising and storytelling capabilities, and ultimately serve more Veterans and their families more effectively.
