Huntington Beach, CA, Oct. 14, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Liberty Military Housing, a leading privatized housing provider and the largest employee-owned company in the multi-family industry, has been recognized for its emergency initiatives during the 2025 Federal Government Shutdown. The company received Honorable Recognition in the 2026 Ragan CSR Awards in the Crisis Response category, highlighting its commitment to supporting military families during a historic government shutdown that impacted nearly 2.5 million active-duty service members and their families.
As a response to the shutdown, Liberty Military Housing launched a series of practical and direct aid measures. The company temporarily paused resident rent payments, ensuring operational continuity for the essential services its residents rely on. Additionally, Liberty engaged in community support initiatives, including coordinating food pantry events and meal drives that benefited over 15,000 families. The company also collected over $40,000 in gift cards, enabling more than 5,000 families to purchase items at base commissaries, local restaurants, and grocery stores.
Liberty Military Housing further strengthened its community ties by partnering with over 40 nonprofit organizations to assist military families with financial services, food insecurity, counseling, and other needs. The company donated, wrapped, and distributed 2,500 gifts to children of military service members, providing Thanksgiving turkeys to 800+ families, and sponsoring holiday celebration dinners for 1,000 service members. Liberty also ensured families had Christmas trees by donating them to 300+ families and providing winter coats through Support the Enlisted Project.
Gail Miller, COO of Liberty Military Housing, expressed pride in the actions taken by the company's team members.
Since its founding in 2001, Liberty Military Housing has celebrated 25 years of serving military families, providing over 36,000 homes in more than 200 communities across ten states and the District of Columbia. The company has served nearly 425,000 families, invested over $6 billion into its communities, and hosted over 16,900 events that help servicemembers create connections and community.
