NEW YORK and NEW ORLEANS, Sept. 4, 2026, A prominent law firm has initiated an investigation into the officers and directors of Freeport-McMoRan Inc. (NYSE: FCX), following a series of events that have drawn scrutiny to the company.
On September 24, 2025, Freeport-McMoRan issued a press release detailing an incident at its PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) operations. The release reported that two team members had tragically lost their lives in a mud rush incident at the Grasberg Block Cave mine on September 8, 2025. This event followed a previous mud rush incident that had raised concerns about safety practices at the mine.
In the wake of this incident, Freeport-McMoRan and certain of its executives faced a securities class action lawsuit. The lawsuit alleged that the company and its executives failed to disclose material information during a specific period, violating federal securities laws. The lawsuit remains ongoing.
