LAS VEGAS, Oct. 5, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- A group of Las Vegas businesses have come together to help Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary complete critical facility improvements in just two weeks, a feat that has garnered praise from the community and highlighted the power of local collaboration. When Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary learned that several areas of its property required improvements to meet USDA requirements, the nonprofit faced a daunting challenge: complete the necessary work within 30 days or potentially face sanctions, loss of its license, or the need to rehome animals in its care. For a nonprofit dedicated to providing a safe, lifelong home for rescued animals and exotic birds, completing the required scope of work within such a limited timeframe and with limited resources presented a significant challenge. That's when the Las Vegas community stepped in. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary connected with Tamra Gannon, CEO of Fencing Specialists, through Councilwoman Nancy Brune, regarding the improvements needed at the property. After learning the extent of the work and the tight deadline facing the sanctuary, Gannon and the Fencing Specialists team recognized that completing the project would require more than the efforts of a single contractor. Fencing Specialists stepped forward to spearhead the project, leveraging its relationships throughout the Las Vegas construction and business communities to quickly assemble contractors, suppliers, equipment, and other resources. The construction community in Las Vegas is truly incredible. When they reached out, businesses immediately stepped up, generously contributing their time, resources, and expertise to help Gilcrease not only meet its immediate needs, but strengthen its operations for the future. I think we all recognize the importance of supporting the organizations that make Southern Nevada such a special community, and I'm proud of how quickly everyone came together to make a difference. Tamra Gannon, CEO of Fencing Specialists. What began as a significant challenge quickly became an example of what can happen when local businesses come together for their community. In approximately two weeks, participating companies completed an extensive list of improvements throughout the sanctuary. Work included securing the area with temporary fence, traffic controls, clearing, grubbing, and removal of spoils, including trees, shrubbery, dirt, and debris, grading the project, and installing over 1250 lineal feet of seven-foot fence, including gates. Participating businesses donated time, labor, equipment, materials, and other resources to help ensure Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary could complete the required improvements as quickly as possible. Las Vegas Recycling was among the companies contributing to the effort, with additional contractors and community partners also providing assistance while choosing to remain anonymous. The collaboration addressed an immediate infrastructure need for the sanctuary, but its need for community support continues. Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary relies on donations and volunteers to provide animal care, food, veterinary services, property maintenance, and other resources necessary to care for the hundreds of animals that call the sanctuary home. Community members can support Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary by visiting, volunteering, or making a donation online at Gilcrease.community. The collaboration between Gilcrease Nature Sanctuary and local businesses has not only helped the sanctuary meet its immediate needs, but it has also highlighted the power of community support. It has shown that when businesses come together, they can make a significant impact in their community, and it has also demonstrated the importance of supporting organizations dedicated to animal welfare.
