Labthink International, Inc., a global enterprise specializing in quality control solutions for packaging materials and products, has introduced three new VAC-V2 gas permeability tester models. These instruments are designed to determine the gas transmission rate and permeability characteristics of various materials, including plastic films, composite films, high-barrier materials, sheeting, and aluminum foils.
The VAC-V2 series operates based on the differential-pressure method. A pre-conditioned sample is placed between an upper testing chamber and a lower testing chamber and clamped. The lower-pressure chamber is first evacuated, followed by the evacuation of the entire system. Once the desired vacuum degree is achieved, a test gas of a certain pressure is flushed to the higher-pressure chamber, creating a constant pressure difference between the two chambers. The gas permeates through the sample from the high-pressure side into the low-pressure side due to the pressure gradient. By monitoring the pressure changes in the lower testing chamber, the gas permeability parameters of the sample can be obtained.
These testers can be used to determine gas transmission rate, solubility coefficient, diffusion coefficient, and permeability coefficient, providing valuable data for material development, quality control, and barrier-performance evaluation. The instruments conform to standards including ISO 15105-1, ISO 2556, GB/T 1038-2000, ASTM D1434, JIS K7126-1, and YBB 00082003.
Labthink can help users select or customize the proper unit according to specific gas, material, temperature, and testing requirements. The company has published several articles where the VAC V2 tester has been used in studies to improve materials, including research in nature and MDPI journals.
In addition to the VAC-V2 series, Labthink has also introduced other innovative testing systems, such as the C910H Integrated Air Permeability, Puncture and Thickness Testing System, the C680M Tearing Tester, the C180M Air Permeability Tester, and the C660M Leak and Seal Strength Tester. These instruments are designed to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of various testing processes in the packaging and quality control industries.
