GREENSBORO, N.C., Sept. 4, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Labcorp, a leading healthcare company, has reached a settlement with plaintiffs over allegations of violating California and Pennsylvania wiretapping laws. The case, which spans from May 1, 2021, to April 1, 2026, involved claims that Labcorp, through third-party tracking technologies, intercepted personally identifiable information and search queries conducted by users on its website, www.labcorp.com.

The lawsuit, filed by unspecified plaintiffs, alleges that Labcorp facilitated the interception of search queries through the use of tracking technologies such as the Meta Pixel and Google Analytics. Labcorp denies these allegations and any wrongdoing. However, the company has agreed to a settlement that will resolve the lawsuit, though the court has yet to rule on its fairness.

Under the terms of the settlement, Labcorp has agreed to several key actions: - For the next two years, Labcorp will not use or enable certain tracking technologies on its website. - The company will conduct an annual review and prepare a compliance report to demonstrate adherence to these terms. - Labcorp will create or maintain a written policy regarding the appropriate use of externally developed tracking technologies. - A senior employee will be designated to oversee compliance with these terms.

The settlement provides only injunctive relief, meaning it restricts future business practices rather than offering financial compensation. As a result, Settlement Class Members (excluding Settlement Class Representatives) will not be able to opt out of the settlement. This means that all members of the Settlement Class will be bound by the settlement, regardless of whether the court approves it.

Those affected by the settlement include all persons in California and Pennsylvania who conducted search queries on Labcorp’s website from May 1, 2021, to April 1, 2026. The term "Search Queries" encompasses any search terms entered into a search bar or menu on the Labcorp website, as well as any selections made from drop-down menus.

Settlement Class Members have the option to object to or comment on the proposed settlement. Objections must be postmarked by November 23, 2026, and can be submitted through www.LaboratoryCorporationWebsiteSettlement.com or by calling 1-877-378-7520. The court will hold a Final Approval Hearing to determine whether the settlement is fair, reasonable, and adequate, and will consider any objections raised.

The settlement does not provide any monetary relief or release of claims for damages. If the settlement is approved, members of the Settlement Class will give up the right to sue Labcorp and its affiliated entities for injunctive relief claims related to the allegations in the lawsuit.
