La Concha Resort, an Autograph Collection Hotel in San Juan, Puerto Rico, has unveiled a new Art in Residence program designed to showcase local contemporary artists and provide guests with an immersive art experience. The initiative transforms select Executive Corner Suites into private galleries, featuring the works of Puerto Rican artists and offering a unique way for guests to engage with the island's vibrant creative community.

The first Art Suite, located within a 970-square-foot, one-bedroom Executive Corner Suite in the resort's Ocean Tower, is dedicated to Carlos Rivera, also known as Carlitos Skillz. Rivera, a multidisciplinary artist based in Bayamón, Puerto Rico, explores themes of identity, family history, the rural landscape, and social realities through his work. The suite features a curated collection that includes paintings, sculptures, ceramics, video art, and a custom mural, with a centerpiece being the "Calle Capella" series, which reimagines photographs taken by Rivera's mother during his upbringing.

General Manager Mike Rivera said, "La Concha has always been at the intersection of design, culture, and the vibrant energy of Puerto Rico. Art in Residence gives our guests a more personal way to experience that spirit by living with the work, discovering the stories behind it, and connecting with the island's creative community beyond the walls of the resort."

The Art in Residence program extends the resort's existing On Spotlight series, which showcases local artists through immersive pop-up exhibitions, live art performances, and interactive showcases. The On Spotlight series is set to continue throughout 2026 and 2027, offering guests additional opportunities to discover Puerto Rico's dynamic arts and cultural scene.

In addition to the Art Suites, La Concha Resort has undergone a $80.2 million property-wide transformation, transitioning to Marriott International's Autograph Collection. The resort's modern tropical design, with its signature oceanfront setting, provides a natural backdrop for the new locally driven art program.

Guests interested in experiencing the Art in Residence program can reserve the Art Suite through the resort's official website. The first suite is the first of five planned to debut throughout the year, each showcasing a different local artist and curated collection. Through the evolving program, La Concha Resort aims to continue spotlighting Puerto Rican artists and offering guests new ways to engage with the island's culture through art, design, and hospitality.
