LUXEMBOURG, Sept. 18, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE), Koryx Copper S.A. has announced the commencement of a maiden 2,500-meter diamond drill program at the Luanshya West Project (LEL 23246) in Zambia, with the drilling expected to be completed by the end of the year. The program aims to test up to four priority targets, targeting vertical depths of 100 to 250 meters.
Further exploration is also underway at the Mpongwe Project (LEL 23248), where the company plans to collect approximately 3,000 soil samples to refine existing and new targets. The soil sampling is expected to be completed by early November, with the results potentially leading to shallow drilling in late 2026 or being delayed until 2027, depending on the onset of the rainy season.
In a related development, Koryx Copper S.A. has entered into an amended and restated option agreement with World Class Mineral Ventures Limited (WCMV). This agreement will increase Koryx’s ownership interest in Koryx Copper Zambia Ltd. from 51% to 80%, eliminating the remaining contractual earn-in expenditure commitments. The transaction, which is expected to close by September 30, 2026, will see Koryx pay US$200,000 in cash and issue 80,000 common shares at a deemed price of C$3.50 per share. Additionally, Koryx has a conditional right to acquire the remaining 20% interest for US$400,000 if WCMV elects not to contribute its share of future project funding.
The Luanshya West project will see drilling commence during the week of September 21, 2026. The drilling will test surface geochemistry anomalies, induced polarization (IP) chargeability and resistivity features, and structural targets to a vertical depth of 100 to 250 meters. The program is expected to be completed by mid-December 2026.
Koryx Copper S.A. continues to be encouraged by the exploration progress and resource potential in Zambia. The company’s President & CEO, Heye Daun, commented, “While the Haib project in Namibia remains our primary focus, our Zambian exploration programs have made significant progress since Koryx’s management transition. Detailed magnetic surveying, soil sampling, and pitting at Luanshya West have helped identify and prioritize four targets which we will begin drilling this month, while regional sampling and our reassessment of exploration data at Mpongwe have confirmed new targets for infill sampling to be completed later this year.”
The quality assurance and quality control measures for the drilling program include HQ-sized core at the collar, reduction to NQ size in fresh rock, logging, photography, and cutting of the core in half with a diamond saw. Half of the core will be bagged and sent to ALS Laboratories Ltd. in Johannesburg, South Africa, and ActLabs in Canada for analysis. The analysis will include 33 elements by Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) utilizing a 4-acid digestion method, with gold assayed using a 30g fire assay method. Duplicate samples, blanks, and certified standards will be included with every batch to ensure proper quality assurance and quality control.
