SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 16, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the global charity Know Your Lemons Foundation has announced a groundbreaking update to its Webby award-winning Know Your Lemons app. The new update is designed to help improve early detection for women, aligning with the launch of the #Lemonista movement, a new initiative aimed at improving confidence in self-exam and assessing an individual's risk to create a custom screening plan using an app for the first time.
The app update and #Lemonista movement launch marks the next chapter for the charity, which has already reached 2 billion people worldwide with a life-saving breast cancer awareness campaign. This includes Lynsey White, a 24-year-old woman who discovered a lump under her armpit just a week after seeing the Know Your Lemons' 12 symptoms image from social media. Within a few weeks, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but faced roadblocks in getting testing.
Lynsey is among a growing number of women under 40 who are discovering breast changes themselves, often before they are eligible for routine screening. Currently, breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death among women ages 20 to 49 in the United States and the leading cause of cancer death among women globally. One of the strongest predictors of surviving breast cancer is how early it is found. Yet, most women have never been taught how to confidently check their breasts, and few have completed a risk assessment to determine when and how they should be screened, according to the American College of Radiology, which recommends by age 25.
The Know Your Lemons app addresses both gaps through a new series of games that makes learning easy, engaging, and rewarding by earning two lemons in the app: one representing Confidence in knowing their body and the other representing Intelligence in knowing their personal risk and screening plan. When the two lemons are earned, they officially become a Lemonista. Lemonistas then show their improved breast cancer awareness status by sharing the [two lemons] symbol on social media, transforming individual action into a visible global movement and encouraging others to take charge of their breast health, too. Among others, CBS's Elsbeth actor Carrie Preston, Christine, of the Hello Beautiful movie, and breast cancer radiologist Dr. Anjali Malik have endorsed the movement by adding [two lemons] to their social media profiles.
The Know Your Lemons Foundation is a nonprofit global organization dedicated to breast health education, reaching people in over 100 countries through its award-winning app and educational materials. Its EIN is 47-1133351.
