LEXINGTON, Mass., Sept. 28, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Keros Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing novel therapeutics to treat a wide range of patients with disorders linked to dysfunctional signaling of the transforming growth factor-beta ("TGF-ß") family of proteins, today announced that the first patient was dosed in the Phase 2 clinical trial of rinvatercept in patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy ("DMD"). The Phase 2 clinical trial is an open-label, multi-cohort basket clinical trial in patients with DMD, with the primary objective of assessing the safety and tolerability of rinvatercept in late-ambulatory and early non-ambulatory patients with DMD. Key secondary objectives include evaluating pharmacokinetics, anti-drug antibodies, body composition, and comprehensive functional improvements, including skeletal muscle, motor, cardiac, and pulmonary outcomes.

The trial, which is registered under the ClinicalTrials.gov identifier NCT07704099, is designed to evaluate the potential of rinvatercept, a novel ligand trap comprised of a modified ligand-binding domain derived from activin receptor type IIA and IIB fused to the Fc domain of the human antibody. Rinvatercept is designed to modulate key regulators of muscle and bone biology, aiming to improve skeletal muscle regeneration, increase muscle size and strength, inhibit fibrosis, reduce inflammation, and improve bone health through anabolic mechanisms.

Keros Therapeutics, founded by Jasbir S. Seehra, Ph.D., President and Chief Executive Officer, is advancing its neuromuscular development strategy with this trial.

Keros Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company dedicated to developing and commercializing novel therapeutics for patients with disorders linked to dysfunctional signaling of the TGF-ß family of proteins. The company's lead product candidate, rinvatercept, is being developed for the treatment of DMD and ALS. The company's most advanced product candidate, elritercept, is being developed for the treatment of cytopenias, including anemia and thrombocytopenia, in patients with myelodysplastic syndromes and myelofibrosis.
