PHILADELPHIA, Sept. 17, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- On October 1, Keep Music Alive is launching its 11th Annual Kids Music Day, a nationwide celebration aimed at promoting music education and encouraging children to explore their musical talents. This year, the nonprofit is inviting participants across the United States, Canada, and 15 other countries to join the "Drum on Anything" Challenge, a social media-driven campaign that encourages musicians, students, families, and music enthusiasts of all ages to create and share short videos of themselves drumming on any available object.
The "Drum on Anything" Challenge is inspired by the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge and uses the hashtag #DrumOnAnything. Participants are encouraged to tag three friends and either share their own video or make a donation to a music education nonprofit of their choice. The campaign is designed to raise awareness and support for music education, with Keep Music Alive hoping to engage supporters and raise funds for music education organizations nationwide.
More than 1,200 locations are expected to participate in Kids Music Day, which runs from September 18 to October 11. These events are designed to give children more opportunities to experience the joy of making music and to highlight the importance of music education in communities around the world. Activities will include musical instrument petting zoos, student performances, free trial music lessons, kids open mics, ukulele, drum, and guitar circles, instrument donation drives, and special Kids Music Day promotions.
The event is supported by a number of popular family-friendly brands, including CASIO, Kala Brand Music, Independence Blue Cross, Les Paul Foundation, Music Nomad Equipment Care, Panyard, Remo Percussion, and Taylor Guitars. Keep Music Alive is also pleased to welcome celebrity artists as Kids Music Day Ambassadors, including Julie Andrews, Jack Black, Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo, Michael Feinstein, Kenny Loggins, Richie Sambora, Sarah McLachlan, Vanessa Williams, Victor Wooten, Todd Rundgren, Neil Nayyar, Philip Lawrence, Bernie Williams, Damien Escobar, and Mandy Harvey.
In addition to the "Drum on Anything" Challenge, 13-year-old violinist Sabrina Patel will once again serve as the Kids Music Day Spokesperson. Sabrina, who is currently 90% complete on her quest to perform the National Anthem at major events in all 50 states, has already performed in 45 states. Major league sports teams that have welcomed Sabrina so far include the MLB's Texas Rangers, Colorado Rockies, Cleveland Guardians, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, NBA's Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks, and WNBA's Connecticut Sun.
Kids Music Day is a celebration of the joy of music and a reminder of the importance of music education in the lives of children. By participating in the "Drum on Anything" Challenge and attending events, participants can help support music education programs and give children the opportunity to explore their musical talents.
